Hawaii is one of the states in USA. It is located in the far northern part of the islands groups in Polynesia and it occupies most of central pacific ocean.
When going for a vacation during the summer or winter periods, one the most popular destinations that people love visiting is Hawaii. The main islands of Hawaii are…

1.The island of Hawaii
It is also known as ‘the Big Island‘.  It is the largest island of Hawaii’s main islands. It has a total area of 10,432 sq km (4,028 square miles).  It’s also the biggest island in the US, like other Hawaiian islands it was formed from a hotspot in Earth’s crust. the island is still volcanically active as was the most recent island to be formed.  The Island is a home to some active volcanoes e.g. Kilauea which is the very active volcanoes we have in the world. its highest point is on the dormant volcano i.e. Mauna Kea which is 13,796 feet (4,205 m).
The Big Island has a population of 148,677 and it biggest cities are Kailua-Kona and Hilo.
2. Maui
It is the second largest island in Hawaii. It occupies an area of 727 sq miles(1883.5 sq km). the island has a population of 117,644. Its largest city is Wailuku. The island’s nickname is the valley isle, this name reflects the islands topography. The island has several mountain ranges which are separated by the valleys on the lowlands parts along its coast. Maui’s highest point is Haleakala with a height of 10023 feet (3055m). Maui island is well known because of its beaches, natural environment and its good agricultural sector where coffee, nuts, macadamia, flowers, pineapple and papaya are grown.

3. Oahu
It is the 3rd largest island in Hawaii. The island covers an area of 597 sq miles(1545 sq km). It is an island with the highest number of people living in it. The total population is 953,307. It is the center of Hawaii’s economy and government. The largest town in Oahu is Honolulu which is coincidentally the capital state of Hawaii. The U.S. Navy fleet has its home in Oahu at Pear Harbor.
Oahu has two mountain ranges which are separated by coastal plains and a valley. One of the top attraction site in Oahu is the Pearl Harbor, Waikiki and the North Shore.

It has a total area of 562 sq miles. It is the oldest of the main islands of Hawaii. It is located at farthest end away from thy hotspot which formed the islands. Its highest point is Kawaikini which is 5243 feet(1598 meters). Its main attraction site is the Na Pali Coast state parks and the Waimea Canyon. The total population of the island is 65689 according to the 2008 survey.

Hawaii consists of many islands and some of the other islands in Hawaii are; Niihau, Kahoolawe, Lanai,  and Molokai. So enjoy your beach vacation and the islands.
