THE COLOSSEUM

The Colosseum is also considered as the one of the wonder in the ancient world. It is located in the center of the Rome, Italy, the largest building ever built in the Roman Empire. It construction was started at 72 AD under the emperor Vespasian and was fully completed in 80 AD under Titus. And some of the modification was made during Domitian’s reign during 81 to 96

The colosseum is capable of seating 50,000 spectators in it. The colosseum was used as the gladiatorial contest and public spectacles like mock sea battles, and drams which is based on classical mythology. The main motivation for this building built for only entertainment in earlier.

Due to natural disasters like earth quakes and stone-robbers it was damaged in 21stcentuary. The colosseum is considered as iconic symbol of imperial Rome. It is the most attraction and attracted by many peoples and good and famous tourist spot I Rome. This is the gift for the Rome.

It has still connection with that is close connection with Roman Catholic Church. Each good Friday the pope leads a torch lit in the colosseum. The colosseums original name in latis was amphitheatrumflavium. The building was constructed by the emperors of flavin dynasty, the general view of the building the structure is better known as colosseum. The name colosseum is believed by the peoples has derived from a colossal statue of Nero.

The colosseum looks entirely free standing structure. It is 189 meter long and 156 meters wide, with base area of 6 acres. The height of the outer wall is 48meters. The perimeter is 545 meters. The central arena is an oval of 87 long and 55m wide, surrounded by the 5m wall. The colosseum can accommodate 87,000 people but although modern estimate put the fig at around 50 thousand.
